On April 11th 2015, The Danvers Police, in collaboration with The Danvers Kiwanis Club, held a car seat safety check-up event at the Thorpe Elementary School in Danvers. The event was a huge success thanks to the hard work of Kiwanis Club volunteers and the Certified Passenger Safety Technicians that traveled from across the state, and even New Hampshire, to help install seats. The event drew people from as far as Arlington who waited in line for upwards of an hour to have their seats checked. In total, 11 CPST’s assisted parents and care-givers to safely and properly install 53 child safety seats. Our technicians found that of those 53 seats, 7 were expired and 20 were being used improperly. New car seats were provided to those families in need of a replacement either due to expiration or being out-grown. A total of 17 seats were given out at the event – 14 of which were donated by the Danvers Kiwanis Club and 3 of which were part of a grant from the Office of Public Safety and Security’s Highway Safety Division (EOPSS-HSD). Thank you to all who attended the event and helped to make it a great success and for taking the time to make sure that your children are riding safe!!
