The Danvers Police Department is pleased to announce that we will again be hosting a Basic Physical Defense for Women course this October. If you missed out on the chance to take the course in the spring, submit your application early, as the class is limited in size and fills quickly!
The Rape Aggression Defense System (R.A.D.) is a program of realistic, self-defense tactics and techniques specifically for women. The R.A.D. System is dedicated to teaching women defense concepts and techniques against various types of assault, by utilizing easy, effective and proven self-defense/martial arts tactics.
The course begins with awareness, prevention, risk reduction and avoidance, and progresses to hands-on physical defense techniques. The course is taught be certified R.A.D. instructors from the Danvers Police Department and is open to women ages 18 and up. No previous self-defense experience is required and the course is free of charge to all participants.
This course consists of four classes, each of which are three hours long. Participants should attend all four evenings. The schedule is as follows:
•Wednesday, October 4th, from 5:30-8:30 p.m.
•Wednesday, October 11th, from 5:30-8:30 p.m
•Wednesday, October 18th, from 5:30-8:30 p.m.
•Wednesday, October 25th, from 5:30-8:30 p.m.
Classes will be held at the Holten Richmond Middle School, 55 Conant Street, Danvers, MA.
If you are interested in participating in the RAD program, please fill out the RAD Application and return it to the Danvers Police Department as instructed.
