On Tuesday, October 20th, the Board of Selectmen unanimously voted to officially accept the donation of a Protective Tactical Vest for the Department’s newest K9, Stryka. The funds for the vest were graciously donated by Karen Hudson Lounsbury and friends, in memory of Karen’s son, Private First Class Bryan Lounsbury.
PFC Lounsbury was born in the Army hospital in Frankfurt, Germany, and resided with his family in Cambridge. From a very early age, he expressed an interest in the military – always knowing he was going in the the Army. Every Halloween, he wore an Army uniform, which was his father’s or his uncle’s. After graduating from Minuteman High School in 2007, he enlisted in the Army as a Cav Scout. He was a Private First Class in the United States Army and died at age 18 while on Active Duty stationed at Fort Hood, Texas.
Massachusetts Vest-A-Dog has previously facilitated donations to purchase essential equipment for the Danvers Police Dpeartment K9 program. We are grateful for their generous continued support.
