The Danvers Police Department and the Danvers Public Schools, for the first time, are partnering to offer a FREE Rape Aggression Defense System course to graduating female seniors. Many of the young women are heading off to college, and it’s a chance for them to learn self-defense skills.
The classes will run from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. at Danvers High on Tuesdays: April 28, May 5, May 12 and May 19
Rape Aggression Defense System (R.A.D.) is a comprehensive, women-only course that begins with awareness, prevention, risk reduction, and risk avoidance, and then progresses to cover the basics of hands-on defense training. Classes will be taught by officers who are nationally certified R.A.D. instructors. The class is limited to 25 participants.
